Henning III outside the Shneerson Synagogue as a possible hate crime. We do quarrel with the description of the Anti-Defamation League as an anti-racism group when in fact they recently published a book called Hate Hurts, How Children Learn and Unlearn Prejudice that cruelly and falsely portrays European Americans as the purveyors of racial animus and the perpetrators of hate crimes and all groups as their victims. The book is now being used in our public schools. Being a cruel and bigoted organization and an anti-racism group at the same time seems incongruent to us. Sincerely, Louis Calabro President 07 May 2001 Salt Lake Tribune http://www.sltrib.com/05052001/public_f/94890.htm Letters to the Editor Dear Editor, What does Ms. Gonzales and Mr. Rodriguez who believe hate crime prosecutions are just for white people suggest we do with the recent racially motivated hate crime by Carlos Garcia in Los Angeles. Set him free and forget it? Louis Calabrro. "Racial Shooting Tied to Fatal Bus Hijacking" "A racially motivated shooting may have preceded the hijacking of an MTA bus and a wild chase through down- town Los Angeles"... ..."It appears the crime....was hatred-motivated," (said) Detective Dennis English...."... ..."Police said the suspect in the bus hijacking, 33-year- -old Carlos Garcia, apparently shot Anthony Lewis, 34, who is black, Wednesday afternoon because he did not approve of black men associating with Latino women." By Tim Potter The Wichita Eagle Sunday April 29, 2001 ...Questions have swirled over what led the attackers to their victims. Some people, many from distant cities, asked why prosecutors and the media weren't portraying it as a potentially racially motivated crime because the victims were white and the defendants are black. Prosecutors said the victims were chosen randomly>>> Dear Mr. Potter: Again sir, you fail to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. In a court of law that is called perjury--but in street parlance you would be called a liar. The whole truth is that the Carr brothers selected European American to be victims of crimes on three separate nights resulting in the death of five European Americans, three men and two women. The belief that the attacks were racially motivated have to do with the fact that more than enough criteria (indicators) used by the Federal Bureau of Investigation to determine if a crime is racially motivated were found in this case. Yes, race is one factor, but so is the viciousness and brutality of shooting people execution style, as is the subjection of the victims to sexual humiliation, the obvious selection of European Americans to be victims on three separate nights, the feelings of the community that it was a racially motivated hate crime and other criteria. Maybe the victims were chosen randomly from among European American potential victims, but they were first targeted because they were European Americans. Saying it is thought to be a racially motivated hate crimes only because of the different races is a distortion of the truth, and in my opinion a lie. cc: R. Thames, Editor Louis Calabro 22 Apr 2001 Michael Fancher, Executive Editor (mfancher@seattletimes.com) Seattle Times. Dear Mr. Fancher, The Seattle Times (04/22/01) is to be commended for its stance on opening the Task Force Meetings to the public. Late is better than never. In my opinion, the Seattle Times would better serve the interest of the public if it wouldc also looked at the devastating and cruel issue of interracial crime in America. In a study by the New Century Foundation (1999) they documented from the US Department of Justice, Criminal Statistics Division, that in over one million violent interracial crimes between European Americans and another major racial group, yearly, European Americans were victims in 89% of the cases. ( New Century Foundation, 2717 Clarkes Landing, Oakton, Va. 22024 (703) 716-0900). If we learn that only one percent of those cases are unreported or unidentified as racially motivated hate crimes against European American then America would be in a state of shock, same as the Seattle Times. Open meetings are fine--but open reporting of the facts are more important. It is the duty of the Seattle Times to report the facts relating to interracial and hate crimes that are being committed against European Americans. Please report those facts. Thank you. for your kind attention. Best Wishes, Louis Calabro The European/American Issues Forum is an anti-hate, anti-racist organization working to eradicate defamation and discrimination against European Americans.
